What Is The Warm Home Discount?
What If I Have A Prepayment Or Pay-As-You-Go Meter?
If you are on a direct debit, you won’t need to do anything more, as your Warm Home Discount will be applied to your electricity account or your gas account on request.
However, things work a little bit differently if you prepay for your energy bills, as you will be credited against future energy use. Some suppliers may also tender payment directly to you.
Prepayment meter customers and Core Group customers who have switched suppliers may receive their rebate as a cheque, voucher, or Special Action Message. Energy suppliers are responsible for checking if rebate vouchers have been delivered and redeemed.
While energy costs have skyrocketed (with no sign of slowing down), the government has launched schemes to help UK residents.
If you want to see how else you can save on your energy bills, compare business gas prices and compare electricity prices with us at Business Energy Comparison. We can provide you with free quotes and compare business energy suppliers to find the best deal for your business.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you switch your energy supplier, and are in Core Group 1 or 2, your previous energy supplier must provide you with your rebate.
You can contact the supplier of your original contract on the qualifying date to check if they have your details. They should also be able to tell you when and how you will receive your rebate.
If you did not have a contract with a participating electricity supplier on the qualifying date, you won’t receive a rebate for this scheme year. This will still be the case if you change over to a participating electricity supplier.
The Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Energy (BEIS) generally determines which Core Group you will fall into. They can also tell you whether you won’t be eligible to receive a discount from the scheme.
If you believe you are eligible but don’t receive a letter from the government, contact the Warm Home Discount team to check if you qualify.
No, receiving a Cold Weather Payment or a Winter Fuel Payment will not disqualify you from receiving your Warm Home Discount rebate.
You can redeem a Warm Home Discount voucher at any Post Office branch in the UK.
If your Warm Home Discount voucher does not work, then you will need to contact your electricity supplier.
You will also need to make contact with your supplier if your meter is changed to a Smart Pay As You Go meter so that your supplier can apply your rebate.
